Swan Retro is an affordable brand that specializes in attractive vintage-style kitchen appliances and homeware. The fridge freezers come in a range of colors to match any kitchen. The model we tested was a soft pastel blue however, you can select from grey, cream, green, and red.
The exterior of the refrigerator is decorated with chrome handles and an embossed Swan Logo, while its interior is sleek, with glass shelves and a wine rack and a drawer that can be used to store chilled drinks. Inside the door, there are a couple of narrow racks perfect for small juice cartons. The refrigerator utilizes thermoelectric cooling instead of compressors. This makes it quieter than normal refrigerators, and has only a an occasional hum while operating.
The capacity of the refrigerator is 295 litres. The refrigerator compartment can hold 209 litres and the bottom-mounted storage freezer provides 89 litres. The refrigerator isn't frost free and will require manual defrosting on occasion to ensure it is operating at its maximum. The drawer for chilled beverages is a nice feature, and the crisper drawer has plenty of space for fresh vegetables and fruits.
We tested the fridge's energy efficiency, and it scored an A+ rating. This is the lowest energy efficiency that we have tested for and is a great result for an appliance at this price. retro style fridge freezer was a good score. It's still a bit more loud than the less expensive models we tested, but much quieter than the older models which made a lot of noise.
Swan has kept the design simple, which is a plus in terms of ease of use. The fridge is equipped with an LED bulb light as well as a rotary thermostat control for temperature. The temperature was stable. The middle and top shelves varied only by one or two degrees to each side of the mean and the salad drawer stayed at 2oC. We did notice that it was quite hot at the back. This could be an issue if you live in a warmer area.

Despite being a classic compressor model the Swan is quite quiet for its size. We measured it at a moderate 42dB when it was running. That's significantly less intrusive than models that were made 10 years ago and is far quieter than many of the fridge freezers in our Best Buy chart.
This type of fridge also had a high degree of temperature stability. The average temperature of the top shelves, middle and lower ones was just a few degrees below the maximum. The salad drawer was a little more erratic, fluctuating between 5oC and just under freezing.
As with the SR11010, the fridge requires a few times of manual defrost but is classified as A+ for energy efficiency. This makes it the most energy efficient fridge freezer on our Best Buy chart. It will help keep your electric bill at a minimum.
